Dementia Friends and Playlist for Life drop ins will operate from 19th November at Bishops House Day  Centre in Wind Hill

Who runs the Dementia Friends Drop In ?

Claire Uwins. She is a local Dementia Champion and is passionate about spreading Dementia awareness and education about this challenging condition.

 

Claire is a trustee at the Community Initiative (Bishops Stortford) and until recently, at the Apton Rd centre (Age concern). She is mum to two grown up boys. Her career has been in retail buying and management and post Tesco, her time has been spent volunteering within the community for the Apton centre, Isabel Hospice, Bishops Stortford Parkinsons group and local schools. She has developed The Care Bank to encourage local volunteering, The Stepping Stones project to support Mental & Emotional Wellbeing and the Much Hadham Sunday lunch club to support those on their own on a Sunday.

 

What are they for?

To help everyone understand and learn more about Dementia. Items to help someone with Dementia and their carers can also be borrowed from Learners Community Library or made at this session. A Help Point for Playlist for Life is being developed.

 

When are the Drop Ins?

Claire runs our monthly Learners Community Library drop in Dementia Friends/Awareness session and Help Point for Playlist for Life on a Tuesday evening from 5.30 to 7.30. (NB except one in December) where you can still borrow/make items

Playlist For Life

We want everyone with dementia to have a unique, personal playlist and everyone who loves or cares for them to know how to use it

More than 20 years of scientific research shows that listening to a personal playlist can make living with dementia easier and happier.
